Country Care Assisted Living Homes began:

as a conversation at a Thanksgiving dinner in Cottonwood, Arizona in November 2000 between Mike Harris and Lou Middelstorb who decided that there was a need for a better type of assisted living community. They attended a number of orientations on the needs in the assisted living category put on by the Arizona Health Department. After seeing that there was a void in the category, they made the decision to commit to opening three superior assisted living homes in the Cottonwood area. With their deep commitment to providing a better type of assisted living experience, by May 1, 2001 the land had been purchased, cleared, and subdivided, and the first home called Country Ranch was opened.

The homes at Country Care are spaced on a beautiful circle drive on 2 acres of open land with beautiful mountain views.

All of the homes have large porches so the residents can relax and enjoy the panoramic vistas featured in a peaceful setting in the heart of the Verde Valley and are conveniently located within minutes of the Verde Valley Medical Center.

Their chefs have always taken pride in offering nutritious well balanced meals with a gourmet touch.

New residents are always asked about their favorite meals, and if the meal is not something we already serve then we will find a way to get it on the menu for our new resident. And they also cater to dietary needs for all occupants.

Pet therapy has always been important at Country Care

and some residents are able to keep their pets with them. One of the favorite times for the residents is when Country Care brings in the mini horses that the residents love to feed carrots to and pet. Many times the pet therapy helps residents open up about things from their past. For example, after a visit with the mini horses one of the residents opened up and began communicating to everyone about how when she was a little girl she had a loving horse of her own. This touching moment was allowed her begin to open up about things that had not been discussed before, and after that, the resident always asked "when are the little horses coming back again?"

The homes of Country Care also have live entertainment with performers who come to visit all the homes. They perform music the residents grew up with and the sing-alongs are always fun. Every residents Birthday is also celebrated along with all Holidays. At Country Care it seems like there is always a party going on or a celebration!

The Xmas Party is always special as the homes put out a big buffet with gifts for all residents from Country Care. Live entertainment and Christmas Carols are sung by all and then every year the 3rd grade from a nearby private school come to sing to our residents providing lots of laughter and love.

Each week a non-denominational service is provided in each home for those residents that wish to participate. A registered nurse is on call and assistance is always provided to help with daily living activities

Country Care strongly supports the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce and sponsors a mixer for the Chamber where the Country Care chefs proudly display their cooking talents with the community. Tables are put out in the large grassy area and many local nurses, doctors and some of the other assisted living communities that Country Care works with closely also attend.

A choice of spacious private or semi-private rooms are available and may be decorated or personalized by the resident. our dedicated caregivers and Team Leaders have been with us for years and they give personalized care to each resident, according to each one's needs, while respecting their dignity, individuality, privacy and choice.
